Fourth Grade General Music
Riverbend 4th Grade students receive 45 minutes of General Music instruction each week.

Fourth Grade Learning Objectives
Trimester 1
During the first trimester students in fourth grade will work on building a repertoire of songs to sing (Sing-Along Songs). They will practice proper singing posture and vocal technique. Students will demonstrate the concepts of syncopation, body percussion, treble clef, music staff, canon/round, ostinato, phrases, rondo form, fermatas, and learn individual instrument names. During this trimester students in fourth grade will have the opportunity to use un-pitched percussion, Orff instruments (such as the xylophone), and Recorder.
Trimester 2
The second trimester of fourth grade will continue to work on building a repertoire of songs to sing (Sing-Along Songs). Students will continue to practice proper singing posture and vocal technique. Students will also focus on more complex recorder skills.
During this trimester students in fourth grade will also have the opportunity to attend an interactive Juneau Symphony Concert where they will not only listen to the symphony but also play along with the symphony using their recorders.
Trimester 3
This final trimester of fourth grade will continue to work on building a repertoire of songs to sing (Sing-Along Songs) as well as singing popular music (students choice). The focus of this trimester is completion of units which focus on the four instrument families, playing the ukulele and playing the guitar!
